What is Thndr?

Thndr is Egypt's first commission-free investing app that lets you buy and sell stocks on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) with zero trading fees. It's designed for both beginners and experienced investors, offering a simple smartphone interface with real-time market data, educational content, and instant trade execution.

Traditionally, investing in the stock market required opening a brokerage account with high minimum deposits, paying hefty commissions on every trade, and dealing with complicated procedures. Thndr changes all that. You can start investing with as little as EGP 1, pay zero commission on buying or selling stocks, and manage everything from your phone in just a few taps.

Whether you want to invest in major Egyptian companies like Commercial International Bank (CIB), Talaat Moustafa Group (TMG), or Eastern Tobacco, Thndr makes it accessible to everyone. The app provides stock information, price charts, company news, and even curated collections of stocks to help beginners understand where to start. It's regulated by Egypt's Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA), ensuring your investments are safe and secure.

How It Works

Thndr connects you directly to the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) through a licensed brokerage firm (EFG Hermes). When you place an order to buy a stock, Thndr sends it to the exchange instantly, and if a seller is available at that price, the trade happens immediately. The stocks you buy are held in your name in a secure custody account regulated by Egypt's financial authorities. You can sell your stocks anytime during market hours, and the funds are transferred to your Thndr wallet, from which you can withdraw to your bank account. Everything happens in real time, giving you full control over your investments.

Step-by-Step Setup Guide

1

Download the Thndr app

Thndr is available on both iOS (Apple App Store) and Android (Google Play Store). Search for "Thndr" and download the official app to your smartphone.

Make sure you download the correct app - look for the purple logo with a lightning bolt icon.

💡 Thndr is mobile-only. There's no desktop version, but the app is designed to be easy to use on your phone.

2

Sign up and verify your identity

Open the app and tap "Sign Up." You'll need to provide:

  • • Your full name (as it appears on your National ID)
  • • Mobile phone number
  • • Email address
  • • National ID number

Next, you'll take a selfie and upload photos of the front and back of your National ID. This is required by Egyptian law for Know Your Customer (KYC) verification.

Thndr uses AI to verify your identity instantly. The process typically takes 1–2 minutes. Once approved, you'll receive a confirmation notification.

💡 Make sure your ID is valid and not expired. Thndr is regulated by the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA), so verification is mandatory.

3

Add money to your Thndr wallet

To start investing, you need to deposit funds into your Thndr wallet. You can do this through:

  • Bank transfer: Transfer from your Egyptian bank account using the account details provided in the app
  • Mobile wallet: Use Vodafone Cash, Fawry, or other mobile wallets
  • Credit/Debit card: Instantly fund your account with any Egyptian or international card

The minimum deposit is EGP 1, but most payment methods have a minimum of around EGP 50–100 due to processing fees.

Deposits via bank transfer usually take a few hours to appear. Card and wallet deposits are instant.

💡 Start small if you're a beginner. You can always add more funds later as you get comfortable.

4

Explore stocks and do your research

Browse the list of Egyptian Exchange (EGX) stocks available on Thndr. You can:

  • • View real-time stock prices and daily price changes
  • • See historical price charts (1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 1 year, all time)
  • • Read company profiles and financial data
  • • Explore curated stock collections like "Top Gainers," "Most Active," or "Blue Chips"

Thndr also provides educational content and news updates about companies to help you make informed decisions.

💡 Don't invest in something you don't understand. Use Thndr's educational resources to learn about different companies and industries first.

5

Place your first trade

When you're ready to buy a stock:

  • 1. Tap on the stock you want to buy
  • 2. Tap the "Buy" button
  • 3. Enter the number of shares you want OR the total amount you want to invest (Thndr calculates the shares for you)
  • 4. Review the order summary showing the total cost
  • 5. Confirm the order

Your order is sent to the Egyptian Exchange immediately. If the stock is available at that price, the trade executes instantly during market hours (Sunday–Thursday, 10 AM – 2:30 PM).

The stocks you buy appear in your "Portfolio" section, where you can track their performance in real time.

💡 Start with a small amount on your first trade to get familiar with how the process works. You can always buy more later.

6

Monitor and sell when ready

Track your investments in the Portfolio tab. You'll see:

  • • Current value of each stock you own
  • • Total profit or loss (in EGP and percentage)
  • • Daily price changes

When you want to sell, tap the stock, then tap "Sell," enter the number of shares, and confirm. The sale is processed instantly, and funds are added to your Thndr wallet.

You can withdraw money from your wallet to your bank account anytime through the app.

💡 Investing is a long-term strategy. Avoid panicking when prices drop temporarily. Focus on the company's fundamentals and your investment goals.

Always do your own research before buying any stock. Understand the company, its business model, and financial health. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
