What is InstaPay?
InstaPay is Egypt's Central Bank-backed real-time payment infrastructure that allows individuals to transfer money instantly between accounts at different banks and e-wallets - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including public holidays.
Think of InstaPay as a bridge that connects all Egyptian banks and mobile wallets. Instead of waiting hours or days for traditional bank transfers, InstaPay completes transactions in seconds. Whether you need to send money to a friend, split a restaurant bill, pay rent, or receive your salary, InstaPay makes it instant and hassle-free.
The best part? You don't need to remember long account numbers. Once registered, you can send and receive money using just your mobile phone number. It's secure, regulated by the Central Bank of Egypt, and completely free or charges minimal fees depending on your bank.

How It Works
InstaPay connects all Egyptian banks and e-wallets through a unified network. Once you register your mobile number as an "alias" linked to your account, anyone can send you money using just that number - without needing your full account details. The Central Bank of Egypt manages this system to ensure security and reliability. When someone sends you money, it's deducted from their account and credited to yours within seconds, with full transaction confirmation on both sides.
Step-by-Step Setup Guide
Open your bank's mobile app
InstaPay is not a separate app - it's built into most major Egyptian banking apps including CIB, Banque Misr, National Bank of Egypt (NBE), QNB, ALEXBANK, and many others.
💡 If you don't have your bank's app installed yet, download it from the App Store or Google Play Store and log in with your existing bank account credentials.
Find and activate the InstaPay service
Navigate to the "Transfers" or "Payments" section in your banking app. Look for an option labeled "InstaPay" or "Instant Payment." Tap on it to begin the registration process.
💡 You'll be asked to accept the terms and conditions. Read them carefully - they explain your rights and the service limits.
Register your mobile number as an alias
Enter the mobile phone number you want to link to your bank account. This becomes your "payment alias" - like a username for receiving money. The system will send you a verification code via SMS to confirm ownership.
💡 Important: You can only link one account to each mobile number. Choose the account you use most frequently for receiving payments.
Send money to anyone
To send money, select "InstaPay Transfer" from your app's menu. Enter the recipient's mobile number (their registered alias), type in the amount you want to send, and add an optional note or reference.
The app will show you the recipient's name for confirmation. Double-check it's correct, then confirm the transaction with your PIN, fingerprint, or Face ID. The money is transferred instantly!
💡 Always verify the recipient's name before confirming. InstaPay transfers cannot be reversed once completed.
Request money (optional feature)
Need to collect money from someone? Use the "Request Payment" feature. Enter their mobile number and the amount you're requesting. They'll receive a notification and can approve or decline the request.
💡 This is useful for splitting bills, collecting group expenses, or requesting payment for goods and services.
